The Arashiyama Bamboo Forest is one of the most popular attractions in Kyoto, Japan and for good reason as walking through the sprawling bamboo canes of this forest is like being in another world. It is one of the most photographed sites in Kyoto along with Kinkakuji (Golden Pavilion) Temple and Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine.

You can directly access the Bamboo Forest from the main street of the Arashiyama district, it is located a few meters north of the entrance to Tenryuji Temple, it is advisable to visit both sites as the Bamboo Forest can be accessed directly from the north exit.

There is only one path through the Bamboo Forest, which leads you slowly up the hill. Once you reach the top of the hill you will see the entrance to Villa Okochi-Sanso.
