About Bürresheim Castle

The uniqueness of Bürresheim Castle lies in the fact that it is, together with Eltz and Lissingen Castle, one of the few castles in the Eifel region that were never conquered or devastated throughout its history, despite numerous Wars raged in this border region of Germany.

In addition, it is one of the best examples to clearly see the gradual evolution of the castle from its beginnings as a medieval fortification to the residential baroque palace that we contemplate today, since the castle is a mixture of overlapping styles. In addition, since it was inhabited until 1938 and its interior has remained practically unchanged, the visit will allow us to discover the lifestyle of the Rhine nobility from the 15th to the 20th century.
