Acadia National Park, Maine, USA (with Map & Photos)

Acadia National Park is a United States national park located in Maine, near Bar Harbor. It occupies most of Mount Desert Island and several smaller islands on the Atlantic coast. It was originally created as the Seier de Monts National Monument in 1916.

The park was renamed Lafayette National Park in 1919 and received its current name Acadia in 1929. More than three million people visited the park in 2016. Acadia is the oldest national park east of the Mississippi River.

Hiking trails


Acadia National Park has over 192 km of hiking trails and trails that range from very easy to challenging. These varied and often interconnected routes combine with Carriage Road to provide tourists with an attractive choice of options. There are many parking spaces along Park Loop Road where you can park your car all day.

In addition, there are many more convenient locations along the various roads in the park and on Desert island. Before going on a walk, be sure to read and follow the safety rules for walking. The only camping allowed in Acadia National Park is Blackwood Camping and Seawall Camping.
