One of the beaches to highlight is a public one called Beachwalker Park, in Charleston County. It offers a very wide and long beach of fine sand with large areas designated for swimming, and with all kinds of services included, such as changing rooms, external showers on the beach itself, toilets, areas for picnics and barbecues, bars (depending on the season), and rental of chairs and umbrellas. It also has a good lifeguard service that ensures the safety of visitors.

Although most of Kiawah Island's beaches have firm sand suitable for bicycling, there are many bike-friendly paths and tracks – more than 30 miles of routes – that stretch across the island. Much of this South Carolina island is private, and only visitors with a reservation to some of the houses or resorts on the island are allowed.

Nearly 10,000 acres of natural land on the island are protected, and the islanders have worked hard to keep this island in pristine condition. Due to this determined protection by the environment, Kiawah Island is one of the most tranquil and peaceful places on the East Coast.

As one can imagine, one of the main activities of tourists who come to the island is to enjoy its pristine beaches. The second most popular activity is playing golf. There are several golf courses where courses and programs are offered to the whole family to learn this sport.

There are also canoe and kayak excursions through swampy rivers giving us the opportunity to observe wildlife, including alligators, turtles, snakes and a wide range of birds.
