Jeffreys Bay is one of the points of coastline in South Africa that has been awarded the Blue Flag. This prestigious award requires that the beach be thoroughly scrutinized so that it conforms to the strict standards that are required.

This includes that the security zones are adequate, the quality of the water is indisputable, the environment is very well cared for, the services for bathers are also impeccable, and many more requirements that mean that not many beaches achieve this status of almost perfect beach. The beach at Jeffreys Bay has it and it's no wonder. Jeffreys Beach has everything a touristy slice of coastline needs, and is also famous as a major surf spot.
Jeffreys attracts the biggest names in surfing every year in an event that is among the biggest on the planet. It is also a crossing point for whales, which pass through the bay to give birth to their young.

The lagoons near the beach also invite various water sports, such as canoeing or sailing. Next to these lagoons we have an impressive bird sanctuary, where fans can see some rare specimens that cannot be seen anywhere else. Even though it is a blue flag beach, it is not usually crowded and there is plenty of space to enjoy it.
In Jeffreys Bay we also have another well-known beach called Dolphin Beach, which is frequented by both locals and people from all over the world. The conditions are equally good and it also has the blue flag.
In any case, it is always advisable to follow the established rules for greater security. For example, it is convenient to swim near the lifeguard posts, always avoid the parts of the beach with a red flag, do not swim in areas that the authorities do not advise, be careful with currents, etc.

Another very popular thing to do at Jeffreys is horseback riding, both on the beach and dunes and further inland. About six miles from Jeffreys Beach is Papiesfontein Farm.
It is located in a perfect combination of beach, rivers and vegetation, which makes this place a perfect place to spend a whole day. The idea is to ride through deserted stretches of beach, coastal and inland areas with landscapes that will surprise us and basically enjoy the moment.
Jeffreys Bay is also well known for its great seafood and squid. In fact, in the various restaurants and hotels in the area we can find a gastronomy that will not disappoint us. There are several hotels that can accommodate us at various prices, although in general for a good service it is recommended that the hotel be at least three stars.
