Navy Pier, a Chicago attraction with a rather unremarkable name, turns out to be absolutely attractive for tourists in every way. Even when approaching it, interesting installations, monuments and unusual “chips” catch your eye, for example, the 70-story Lake Point tower or the fountain in Getaway Park, which beats hundreds of pipes to a height of 60 m. Without stopping too much at the entrance, we pass through a huge red arch-gate and follow further, anticipating an unforgettable day. Navy Pier Park, which in its history has been a dock with cargo warehouses, a training base for US Navy SEALs, an area for walking and recreation, a fairground area, has become the most popular entertainment area in Chicago today. The pier still plays some of its former roles: sightseeing ships depart from its berths, and it also receives fairs.

If you get hungry on the pier, you can kill two birds with one stone by going on a sightseeing liner for a boat trip with breakfast, lunch or dinner included.

If you get hungry on the pier, you can kill two birds with one stone by going on a sightseeing liner for a boat trip with breakfast, lunch or dinner included. For lovers of speed, motor boats are more suitable, and connoisseurs of antiquity are waiting for the Tall Ship Windy. In addition to riding on the lake, you can find a thousand entertainments on the pier, for example, climb in a hot air balloon to the height of a 35-story building or at least to the height of a Ferris wheel (45 m). There's Amazing Chicago's Funhouse Maze, a mini-golf course, Sea Battle on remote-controlled boats, and fireworks all summer long.

More about entertainment

There are two museums open at the Navy Pier. Tourists with children can go to the Chicago Children's Museum, on three floors of which there are many exciting and educational (which is appreciated by moms and dads) exhibitions and attractions.

Don't forget to show your offspring the City of Children, where they can "move" into the future for a while and pretend to be adults while choosing the bus route, shopping at the supermarket, preparing meals and solving other everyday issues.

The second museum, the Smith Stained Glass Museum, is dedicated to colorful paintings made from pieces of colored glass. This free gallery at the end of the pier features over 150 works from a variety of techniques and eras, including Tiffany stained glass.

At the Botanical Garden you will see a variety of exotic and more local plants, at the Shakespeare Theater you can watch a traditional classical performance or an experimental play, at the Navy Pier's IMAX Theater you will be shown an exciting blockbuster, and at the outdoor rooftop theater you can enjoy a live music concert.
