Description

Lake Grundlsee is part of the large mountainous region of the Salzkammergut and is located on the territory of the Austrian federal state of Styria. It is located about 18 kilometers from another famous local attraction - the city of Hallstatt, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The lake itself is bordered in the north by a mountain range known as the Dead Mountains, and in the east there are neighboring, smaller lakes. The Lake Grundlsee itself is the largest in all of Styria - its area exceeds 4 square kilometers. The maximum depth of the lake is 64 meters, but it depends on the change of seasons - in summer it dries up a lot, and in autumn and spring it is filled with water again due to rain and snow melt. In winter, the lake is completely covered with ice.

It is known that in the warm months of the year the water temperature in the lake rises to 25 degrees.
