Elkington Forest is a 950-acre (3.8 km2) private forest located on the southern border of the Cowichan Valley Regional Area on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. Sustainability is for this property. In 2011, the entire land area was changed from F1 - Forestry to CLS - Community Land Management Zone, under which 85% of the land is for ecological forestry and conservation use, and 15% of the land is for mixed use agricultural and residential use building.

In accordance with this zoning, most of the dense housing and agricultural land was located on the southern or elevated areas of the land. In 2011, Living Forest Communities, in partnership with the Canadian-registered charity Trust for Sustainable Forestry, purchased the southern half of the land and began developing it. Installation of ground lighting services; roads, sewers, water supply and power lines began in the summer of 2013. The residential communities were designed in a more European style, with densely clustered houses arranged around a public green space with a community center and cafes.
