The Fortified Church of Biertan, Romania (with Map & Photos)

The Saxon Church of Biertan is the most visited fortified church in Transylvania, estimated to be visited by more than 50,000 tourists this year. Its age, large size and castle-like appearance undoubtedly contribute to its success as a tourist attraction.

Construction of the church began in the 12th century, while the outer walls were built three centuries later. Today the church has a triple row of protective walls containing seven towers and three bastions (bastions).

The Fortified Church of Biertan and the city of Sighisoara. From there we will go to the famous castle of Dracula and end with our lucky sighting of a bear with cubs.
