The park was created by Decree No. 531 of May 20, 1992 next to the Sierra Aparadus National Park. Occupies an area of ​​17,300 hectares.

Serra Geral is one of the most interesting natural parks in Brazil. The relief of the park is characterized by hills, mountains, valleys. It has a rich and varied flora and fauna, with a wide variety of reptiles, amphibians, birds, insects and small mammals.
