Visit to Heidelberg Castle


The visit is possible thanks to a funicular that runs all year round and that reaches the summit. "Bergbahn". The journey runs from "Kornmark" (Grain Market) to the castle and continues until reaching the highest point in Heidelberg called "Königstuhl" (King's Chair). From there, numerous 
trails start that offer magnificent views of the Neckar River as it passes through the city.

Heidelberg Castle has been destroyed and rebuilt several times after being damaged by war, fire and lightning. However, since its last demolition in the 18th century, only part of it has been restored. However, since the beginning of the 20th century it has become the main attraction in the surroundings.

Every year these famous ruins become the setting for the Heidelberg Castle Festival. During the months of June and July, the central courtyard of the castle, the Royal Room and the Chapel are transformed into stages for various outdoor cultural performances. Classical music concerts, opera recitals, dance performances and plays delight the audience every summer.
