The Tambopata National Reserve has its own highlight - this is the so-called "colpa" zone, where a unique natural process takes place every day. "Kolpa" was formed right on the steep bank of the river as a result of erosion. Thanks to her, an unusual clay formation was formed here, which is extremely rich in mineral salts.

Every morning different species of colorful parrots gather in this place and their ritual begins. At first, they just hover over the river bank, creating an unimaginable play of colors, and then they start the process of "colpeo" - birds peck at the clay, which, in turn, enriches their bodies with the necessary salts. This magnificent natural spectacle can be watched for 30 minutes, then the parrots fly away and return only the next day. Such bird watching tours are in great demand in the reserve.
