Diwan-i-Khas, meaning “Hall of Private Audience,” is one of the most elegant structures inside the Red Fort in Delhi, India. Built during the reign of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the 17th century, it served as a space where the emperor met with courtiers, state guests, and foreign ambassadors.

Constructed primarily from white marble, the pavilion is admired for its intricate floral carvings, delicate inlay work, and refined Mughal architectural style. The hall once housed the legendary Peacock Throne, symbolizing the wealth and power of the Mughal Empire.
An inscription inside the hall famously declares, “If there is a paradise on earth, it is this, it is this, it is this,” reflecting the grandeur and artistic excellence of the Mughal court. The open design, with elegant arches and columns, allows natural light to enhance its detailed craftsmanship.
