The Shiziguan Floating Bridge, also known as the “Bridge of Dreams,” spans the Qingjiang River in Enshi Prefecture, Hubei Province, China. Stretching nearly 500 meters (about 1,640 ft), this remarkable pontoon bridge allows vehicles and pedestrians to glide gently over the water as if walking on it.

Built in 2016 using German floatation technology, the bridge uses high-density polyethylene pontoons filled with water for stability. It supports traffic up to 2.5–2.8 tons and allows speeds up to 20 km/h (12 mph), creating subtle ripples and a surreal walking or driving experience over deep turquoise waters and forested cliffs.

The bridge’s narrow, one-way design and gentle sway make it a magnet for tourists and photographers. It’s often compared to a floating roadway winding through a natural postcard—especially at sunrise or sunset.

Despite its beauty, the bridge has safety limitations: in 2023, a vehicle crash caused five fatalities, highlighting the importance of obeying speed and weight restrictions. Authorities had temporarily suspended operations for safety inspections, and the bridge has since reopened with emphasis on caution.
