Gold Harbour, Anna's Bay, South Georgia (with Map & Photos)

Gold Harbour is located in the southeast of the subantarctic island, of South Georgia. The name of the natural harbour has nothing to do with a valuable precious metal; rather, the Gold Harbour surprises the invaluable richness of the animal world and nature. Visitors will find a unique composition of glaciers, mountains, rivers, the ocean, and swaying animal bodies.

It is one of the most important breeding grounds for king penguins. A large number of breeding animals alone makes visitors freeze in amazement. But other types of penguins can be found in Gold Harbour, and the beaches are densely populated by huge elephant seals, especially during the mating season.
