Alamere Falls, Point Reyes National Seashore (with Map & Photos)

Alamere Falls is located in the Phillip Burton Wilderness Area, which is part of the Point Reyes National Seashore. The waterfall tumbles down a 40-foot cliff onto the sands of Wildcat Beach, making for a spectacular sight, especially when the flow is full.

The bad news is that the round-trip hike to Alamere Falls is 13 miles, from Palomarin, the closest trailhead. From the trailhead, walk to the Wildcat Campground, and from there, walk one mile south on Wildcat Beach at low tide to see the waterfall.

Alamere Falls and McWay Falls are the only two tidal falls on the California coast, and Alamere Falls is a big draw despite the long walk to reach it. Services at the falls are minimal to none, so visitors should be prepared.
