The campsite has camping sites, including a small lawn where you can pitch a tent, and a public bathroom nearby. The tide pools in the park turn red several times a year. Scholars claim it is due to the arrival of small shrimp, however local folklore says it is the blood of Popoalea, a mythical princess who was killed in a nearby lava tube by her husband, chief Kaakea.
