We have already been in the cloud forest on the Mombacho volcano in Nicaragua, then we got very strong emotions and decided not to miss the chance and visit such a forest a second time.

Monteverde turned out to be a slightly different park and different from Mombacho. The vegetation in them is similar, but the feeling is completely different. In Monteverde we saw many birds and heard their singing, it seemed that we were in a zoo. In addition, in Monteverde we managed to see a quetzal bird, which was seen in a zoo in Mexico. These birds are very rare and do not breed in captivity. By the way, the quetzal is the national bird of Guatemala.

Monteverde is a small forest. All paths are laid out and paved, so you can walk here with children.

On the territory we saw a waterfall, a suspension bridge at the height of tree crowns and many plants.

In the forest, everything lives and is reborn. It seems that everything is breathing around you!

When visiting the park, do not forget to take a raincoat or umbrella, as it rains here every day.

Huge trees creaked with old branches, like the koryaks of a terrible monster, swaying now to the left, then to the right. Wow! sometimes it didn't feel right.

There is another place near the park that may become more interesting for you than the park itself - this is the hummingbird center. There is a souvenir shop in front of the entrance to the park, near which there are special drinking bowls with sweet water. Little sweet-tooths come to feast on these places.

30-40 hummingbirds simultaneously fly around the sweet water and only the sound of their wings comes from different directions. An interesting buzzing “trrrrrrr…” is emitted by hummingbirds with their wings.

It is almost impossible to catch a small bird. Hummingbirds make 100 beats per minute, and their heart at rest makes 500 beats per minute. The size of the birds is about 3-5 cm and the largest hummingbird reaches 15 cm.

Watching the birds, you will understand that cute creatures are very aggressive towards each other. Attacking each other, they drive the opponent away from the drinkers - this is how they protect their territory.

There are about 51 species of hummingbird in Costa Rica. They are so different and beautiful that we couldn't take our eyes off them. I spent an hour in this place and I am ready to come there every day!

The cost of visiting Monteverde is $20 per person. For our readers in the video, we told how to get to the park for free (it’s better to do this early in the morning, before the park itself opens. If you take the first bus, you will be the very first visitor and have time to sneak into the park for free). We did just that, just walked through the main gate without waiting for the cashier. Aya-yay! It's also impossible! Well, we won't do that again, or we will...

The park is open from 7:00 to 16:00. You can get to the park by regular bus from the city of Santa Elena, which runs on schedule. The cost of such a bus is 600 columns one way. Departure point from the bank (he's the only one there).
