Previously, an older church was located on this site, but in 1887, during a severe thunderstorm, it was flooded with the waters of an overflowing stream. Only the northern tower survived from the old building, so it was decided to build a new temple.

The church was designed by William Joseph Tugginer. It was dedicated to Jesus and Saint Catherine. Notable decorative elements of the interior are murals and sculptures from the early 20th century.

Park of Gnomes Muggestutz

On the road from Interlaken to the east, near the town of Meiringen, there is an interesting amusement park for children "Muggestutz", opened here in 1996. Its main theme is gnomes, funny little fairy tale characters. There are many hiking trails on the vast territory of the park, walking along which you can hear a lot of fantastic stories about gnomes, visit their dwellings and learn more about how gnomes mine precious stones by visiting equipped adits. This is a great place to have fun and interesting time with the whole family.
