Titicaca is an alpine lake located at an altitude of 3812 meters in the Andes on the border of two South American states - Bolivia and Peru. It is the largest lake in South America in terms of fresh water reserves, the second largest lake in South America (after Lake Maracaibo, which is also sometimes considered a sea bay), and the world's highest navigable lake. According to legends, countless treasures of the ancient civilization that once inhabited this territory are hidden at the bottom of the lake. The reservoir is surrounded by many myths and mysteries and has been very popular among explorers and adventurers and treasure hunters for many hundreds of years.
