The Ancient Theatre of Taormina, of Greek origin, is for many travelers who visit Sicily, the most desired photo. Perhaps it is not the most beautiful of the theaters of Ancient Greece that have survived to this day. However, its location, on top of a hill overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, in the foreground, and the Etná Volcano, beyond, make the Greek Theater of Taormima a postcard setting.

For many years, perhaps since the dawn of tourism, before it became a product of mass consumption, Taormina has become a location that lives solely by and for tourism. That is why Taormina has become in recent years a kind of tourism theme park, where only restaurants, shops, pastry shops or travel agencies populate the historic center of the town. The interest, therefore, is reduced to the Ancient Theatre of Taormina and some other specific enclaves, such as its beautiful public gardens. Beyond that, the traveler will spend time strolling along Corso Umberto I, Taormina's catalyst axis, having an ice cream or a granita and discovering that almost all the souvenir shops sell the same material at much higher prices than in the rest of Sicily.
