The Nervión River passes through the city of Bilbao, Spain in the Bay of Biscay. Its lower course, downstream of its confluence with the Ibaizabal River, is known as the Estuary of Bilbao.
The Nervión River belongs to the Iberian Peninsula and runs through the north of Spain. At some times of the year it forms El Salto del Nervión, which reaches 170 meters in height.

Location
The Nervión River has an approximate length of 72 kilometers, and once it begins its journey, a short distance from its source, and in times of heavy rainfall or melting, it forms the impressive Salto del Nervión, which is 170 meters high.
It continues its advance towards the Délica Canyon, heading northeast and then descends through the beautiful Nervión Valley or Alto Nervión, until entering the province of Vizcaya, near the town of Orduña.

Upon entering the municipality of Basauri. It moves with the Ibaizábal river, whose flow and length are similar to the Nervión, to divide the rest of the Greater Bilbao region. Further on it passes through the capital, being called the Estuary of Bilbao, also known as the Nervión or Ibaizábal estuary, until it reaches its mouth in the municipalities of Santurce, Guecho and Ciérvana del Mar Cantábrico.
During times of the year when temperatures rise and the weather is warmer, due to lack of rain and snow on its mountains, in its first sections, its bed remains dry for certain intervals (see Papaloapan River ).
