Chornohora Mountain Range (Чорногора) is the highest mountain range in the Ukrainian Carpathians, located in the eastern part of the Polonynskyi Beskid.

Famous peaks of Chornohora


The most popular among tourists is the Chornohora Mountain Range. It attracts tourists from all over Ukraine and many other countries, primarily because it is the highest in the Ukrainian Carpathians. It is on it that the highest Ukrainian two-thousander mountains are located - Hoverla (2061 m), Brebeneskul (2035.8 m), Petros (2022.5 m), Black Mountain, or Pop Ivan Chernogorsky (2020.5 m), Hutin Tomnatek (2016.4 m) and Ribs (2001.1 m).

A little less than two meters was not enough for Mount Munchel (1998.4 m) to form a magnificent seven two-thousanders on this ridge. However, in the future, this may change, as ideas and proposals have already appeared among the public to raise the mountain artificially by 2 meters.

Whatever it was, but most of the tourist routes on the Montenegrin ridge runs precisely along the above mountains. On the ridge they lie in the following sequence: Petros - Hoverla - Ribs - Gutin Tomnatek - Brebeneskul - Munchel - Black Mountain. Between Hoverla and Ribs, tourist routes often touch the peaks of Pozhizheskaya (1822.2 m), Dancizh (1850 m), Turkul (1933.2 m), and between Chernaya Gora and Munchel there is another peak - Dzembronya with a height of 1877.7 m.
