Huangguoshu Waterfall, Guizhou, China (with Map & Photos)

The Huangguoshu Waterfall (黄果树瀑布) is considered the largest waterfall in China and East Asia. It is located on the Baishui River, about 45 kilometers from Anshun City, Guizhou Province. It is one of the most touristic destinations in the region.

Belonging to the group of karst waterfalls, it is one of the most spectacular and popular within this group. It has a height of almost 80 meters and a width of 100 meters. Its main jump is 67 meters high. The roar of the fall can be heard from miles away.

The Huangguoshu Waterfall along with 18 other waterfalls are an amazing set included in the Guinness Book of Records in 1999 as the group of the world's largest waterfalls. It is the only waterfall on the planet that can be seen from any angle: from above, from below, from the front, from behind, from the left and from the right.

The view of Huangguoshu Waterfall changes according to the seasons of the year. The volume of water varies between the rainy season (May to October) and the dry season (November to April). This regularly reaches its maximum volume between the months of July and August.

The Shuiliandong Cave or Water Curtain Cave, located between the back of the cliff and the back of the Huangguoshu Waterfall, allows, thanks to its 134 meters in length, to see, hear and touch the waterfall. On sunny days a rainbow forms here, adding an extra touch of beauty to the splendid waterfall.
