Chia is a fraction of the Comune of Domus de Maria, in the province of Cagliari in the South Sardinia, Italy. A coastal and seaside town, Chia welcomes a good part of the inhabitants of Cagliari when the heat strikes, and it is also home to numerous resorts and holiday hotels.

No, even the images with the perfect Instagram filters will be able to convey the beauty that only these pearls from southern Sardinia have.
In this stretch of coast there are some of the beaches that you cannot miss. Immense expanses of white sand, soft dunes where you can relax and be caressed by the sun and the wind.

This is one of the particularly windy places. Frequently hit by the mistral wind, and for this reason, particularly appreciated by surfers around the world, it becomes the ideal destination for surfing and kitesurfing.
This area of southern Sardinia is the ideal place for those seeking tranquility. Even in summer you may be lucky enough to find a far corner where you can enjoy the sea in peace and the silence in the shade of junipers.
Thanks to its shallow waters, all the beaches on the Chia coast are particularly ideal for families with children and lovers of underwater fishing and diving.
1. Campana Dune Beach
The famous white sand dunes up to 20 meters high are right next to this beautiful location near Domus de Maria. Porto Campana beach, also known as Campana Dune, offers an enchanting landscape.

Crystal clear and transparent water. Soft and amber sand. The bottom is basically low and this means that this beach is perfect for children.
In the area there are beach bars, kiosks and you can also rent water sports equipment.
2. Su Giudeu Beach
Among all the beaches in Chia, this is probably the most beautiful!

Also called s'Abba Durci beach (freshwater beach), it is a long stretch of white sand surrounded by high dunes. Not in many parts of the world will you have the opportunity to swim in crystal clear waters and at the same time admire the pink flamingos in the nearby pond.
Great fun exploring the bottom with a pair of goggles and fins to reach the island that is a few meters from the coast.
The beach is quite long so it is never too crowded. The blue of the sea will appear almost suddenly after the parking lot. Cross the dunes, junipers and myrtle: all of Sardinia is here!
3. Isola Su Cardolinu Beach
The beach is separated into two small coves by a thin strip of sand. When it is low tide, you can easily reach the island and admire the view from another perspective.

One of the wildest beaches in Chia, without facilities or beach bars. It also turns out to be very intimate and reserved for those who love peace and direct contact with nature. Behind this beach, the dense Mediterranean vegetation extends for several meters from the parking lot.
4. Sa Colonia Beach
Long stretch of sand dominated by the small promontory with the tower. The ideal place to relax.

Just go a few more meters from the parking lot to find a free and quiet space even in the busiest months of tourists.
The sand is sometimes very white and sometimes amber in color, sloping gently towards the sea. The seabed in this case is quite low and gradual. Largely free with a small establishment with bars and services.
If you really want to love colors, stay until sunset.
5. Torre del Porticciolo Beach
A small crescent of surprising beauty. This little gem is right in the middle between Su Cardolinu beach and Sa Colonia. If you wish, you can take a tour of all the beaches in this area, alternating between a walk and a swim.

Chia's tower is a 10-minute walk away on the small promontory.
This is also a small unspoiled and natural beach. The difference between the other beaches is that the bottom here is deeper and it is more exposed to the wind. The sand especially along the coast is less sandy and more granular. One of the ideal destinations for diving.
6. Spiaggia di Cala Cipolla Beach
As it is not very big, if you want to make the most of this beach, August may not really be ideal. In high season it fills up very easily, so it would be advisable to visit it during the periods of May, June and September to be able to appreciate it in the best of cases.

Other than that… what a show! The colors: the turquoise water, the bright green of the Mediterranean, the aromas of the myrtle bushes. As many say, it is not just a beach, it is an experience ! Really small, a perfect cove to enjoy a day at the beach without many luxuries.
Even here the colors are spectacular, the bright blue and the green behind the white and amber sand. Wear the scuba mask for fun snorkeling off the surrounding rocky shoreline.
