Neil Island, Andaman Islands, India (with Map & Photos)

Neil Island is a small island located near Port Blair, India, the capital of the Andaman Islands. Compared to the promoted Havelock Island, there are slightly better beaches and much less people. Shore and seabed: sand, stones.

Another of the wonderful islands that the Andamans have is Neil Island. It is located 40 kilometers northeast of Port Blair and is only 14 square kilometers. In it you breathe tranquility. It has a few very pretty beaches that are practically deserted and foreigners are a "rare bird." Its people are very friendly and open. It is a little paradise of heaven on earth.

The ferry arrives that was going to take us to Neil Island more or less on time. It looks like a bus at the time of boarding and disembarking, since as soon as those who were arriving have gotten off, those who were waiting get on and often it gets going. The ferry is very old and quite dirty. As soon as we have traveled for a while, cockroaches start to appear everywhere. Some climbed on top of the seats.

The locals did not give them the slightest importance, but they already gave us a little repellus. We spent a little less than 2 hours of travel, checking that none of them got on top of us or that they got inside our backpacks. Iker and Noa must have been entomologists in another life, because far from disgusting them, they tried to catch them and lay on the ground to play as if nothing had happened.

As soon as you get off the boat and set foot on the island, you can already breathe absolute peace and tranquility. We go through the permission control again. We have to give them the paper and the passports to write them down in the book. This time we are the only foreigners on the boat. Outside, the owners of some accommodations are waiting for us. As there is not much to choose from on this island, we had looked ahead to the Kalapani beach resort.

Although from the names it seems that they are luxury resorts, nothing of that, they are simple guest houses, but for us that is the good thing about these places. There was the owner. He offered it to us for 600 R. per night and 100 R. for the tuk-tuk to the hotel. By chance we had read an opinion on a blog in which it said that he had stayed at the same site for 400 R. a night, so we told him and without putting any fault he accepted it. He also lowered the tuk-tuk to 50 R.

The hotel is made up of some very cool bamboo huts next to beach number 3. They have a bathroom inside, a little old, and a huge bed with a mosquito net. A garden with hammocks to relax even more and the eating area where they have books and the odd game.
