Notre Dame Cathedral

The legendary Notre Dame Cathedral, located in the heart of the French capital, is the most famous Catholic cathedral on the planet. The beautiful cathedral, which guests of Paris can see today, was built already in the middle of the 19th century, while the construction of the very first cathedral was completed in 1345. During the years of the revolution, the cathedral was almost completely destroyed and plundered, the decision to restore it was made only after the publication of the novel by Victor Hugo.

In the first half of the 19th century, interest in the Gothic style was revived, the restoration of the magnificent cathedral was entrusted to the young and talented architect Eugene Viollet-le-Duc. The cathedral was restored to its original form, just like many years ago, today the main decoration of its interior is skillful stained-glass windows. Back in the 19th century, the cathedral began to inspire outstanding writers and poets for the work, in addition to Victor Hugo, Osip Mandelstam dedicated his work to him.

 The unique Catholic cathedral is featured in dozens of documentaries and feature films, and the musical Notre Dame de Paris, the first version of which was released in 1998, brought him real world fame.
