Aiguilles Rouges Chamonix France

The Aiguilles Rouges (Red Peaks) mountain range rises above the Chamonix region in southeastern France. The name "Aiguilles Rouges" is due to the reddish hue of the soil due to its high iron content. This chain is part of the French Prealps, west of the Alps.

When snow falls, the landscape changes dramatically - as do the activities of those who live and visit here: Chamonix earned a reputation as a great resort for skiing and other winter sports when the first Winter Olympics were held here in 1924.
